Dorset is home to "Lions Camp Dorset", a vacation retreat featuring housekeeping cottages, pool, sauna etc., for families who require one or more people to have regular kidney dialysis treatment. The necessary equipment is at the camp, along with essential trained staff. 

Dorset has its "Scenic Lookout Tower" which replaced the old Forest Ranger Fire Tower. Climb to the top, (if you can), and look far and wide, but please respect our treasures. (Picnic facilities are available.) There is a second picnic area on Highway 35 adjacent to Dorset with washrooms and swimming facilities and a boat launch area. 

The "Frost Center" is just south of us on Highway 35, and the "Dorset Research Center" is just west of us on Muskoka Road 117. 

Numerous Business and Services dot the landscape of the area and Dorset itself is geographically different with the Main Street being the dividing line between the District of Muskoka and County Haliburton. 

The Main Street crosses over a single lane bridge, which crosses a stretch of water separating Trading Bay and Little Trading Bay. This is where many snowmobilers think they are operating jet skis as they cross 1000 feet or so of open water during the winter periods. 

Dorset is home to approximately 350 residents, who believe that their Hamlet is the best in Canada.
